Air Max 1
Air Max 1
The year 1987 was a great one for entertainment and culture. It was the year that Nike released the notorious Air Max 1 sneaker, which was a hugely influential moment in history. The Air Max 1 was a pivotal design for Nike. With the upcoming Air Max Day, we will be looking back at the history of the Air Max 1 and how we got where we are now. So keep on reading if you are a fan of this model.
The first collab was with Atmos
In 2002, Japanese retailer Atmos teamed up with Nike to create a unique version of the classic runner. The design was aimed at increasing sales to their customer base and creating a unique design. More than 20 years later, we can confidently say that they successfully made a unique design. The Nike Air Max 1 Atmos is now seen as one of the greatest colorways of all time.
Biggest Air unit
The Nike Air Max 1, released in 1987, featured the biggest air unit of its time. The visible factor was impressive, as were the performance aspects and cushion capabilities. This was something Nike was actively pushing its ads toward customers. They even claimed that the new air bubble was three times bigger than the previous pairs.
First leather version of the Air Max 1
The leather version of this model is one of the most popular colorways of the sneaker today. Even though it was initially not as well received back in 1988. Most likely, this can be accounted for by the fact that most people viewed the mesh version as a performance shoe and leather as an everyday choice.
