History of the Nike Air Max

In 1987, Nike released the Nike Air Max 1, its first shoe with a visible air bubble and designed by Tinker Hatfield. The sneaker was meant to perform on the court and look good on the street. It had an ad campaign (accidentally) fronted by John McEnroe. The Nike Air Max became one of the brand’s biggest lines, spawning the Nike Air Max 90 and Nike Air Max 95 among countless others.

Air Max 1

The Nike Air Max 1 is a staple in the footwear industry and has been since it debuted in 1987. It’s one of the most popular sneakers of all time and continues to be a popular choice among sneakerheads.

The Nike Air Max 1 was designed by Tinker Hatfield, who also designed other classics like the Air Jordan 1 and Air Force 1. The shoe features an upper made of leather and suede, along with a neoprene sock liner for comfort. The Nike Air Max 1 also has a unique sole unit that includes visible air bubbles — hence its name.

Air Max 90

The Nike Air Max 90 is an iconic running shoe that has an upper constructed of mesh and synthetic leather. Its signature feature is the visible Air-Sole unit in the heel, which was first introduced in 1987. The model had a number of variations over the years, including different colorways and materials. The Nike Air Max 90 was also one of the first sneakers to use Flywire technology.

Air Max 95

The Nike Air Max 95 is the first shoe to feature a full-length visible Air unit. This revolutionary design was debuted on the Air Max 97 in 1997 and was later retroed in 2006. The model features a full length visible Air Unit, which is supported by an internal heel counter that adds stability and prevents over-pronation of the foot. The upper is constructed with a mesh, synthetic leather and ballistic nylon material combination. The black mesh has a shiny finish, while the grey ballistic nylon has a matte finish. Both materials are lightweight, flexible, and breathable. The classic Air Max branding is embroidered under the eyelets on both sides of the shoe and on each tongue tab.

Air Max 97

The Nike Air Max 97 is a classic runner with an iconic look. The original Air Max 97 was released in 1997. This model was the first to have a full-length visible air unit. It also has a solid rubber outsole, which allows for great traction and durability. Also, the Nike Air Max 97 comes in a variety of colors and styles. You can find this shoe in both men’s and women’s models, as well as different colorways and materials. The Nike Air Max 97 is one of the most popular shoes in the Nike line. It’s great for running, but it can also be worn casually with jeans or shorts.

Air Max 270

The Nike Air Max 270 is a premium running shoe with a seamless upper, soft heel and midfoot strap and a new outsole design. The shoe features the brand’s signature air unit cushioning in the heel, but uses a low-profile design to provide greater flexibility and comfort. Nike’s Flymesh technology has been used to create an extra-lightweight upper that is also breathable.
