Fly Streetwear x Dunk Low Pro SB ‘Gardenia’

The SB department of Nike will be revisiting one of the earliest international collaborative partners this year, with it being the Chinese skateshop Fly Streetwear who got the opportunity to design their own Dunk low SB.

Fly Streetwear Skateshop

Jeff Han, a skateboarder who used to work for a milk company, opened Shanghai’s first skate shop way back in 1999. Though he never turned pro, a lot of skaters in his clique did, and you’ll still find sponsored skaters hanging out here today. They stock brands like Nike SB, Vans, Adidas skateboarding and FLY itself has collaborated with Nike SB, Jansport and Vans. They also stock decks, wheels, bearings and completes along with their own line of boards and clothing.

What makes the Dunk low x Fly Streetwear so special?

The first time Nike and Fly streetwear worked together was back in 2009 with a Nike SB Dunk mid and their latest collaboration was back in 2018 on a Janoski but for this year they go all out on the Dunk low SB. The sneaker will be coming in a soft blue-grey suede with rich royal overlays plus multiple embroidered swooshes. Also, they are expected to have logos on the heel and Chinese characters printed on the insole. There will also be one with special packaging, but there is a big chance these will only be releasing inside some skateshops.

Nike SB Dunk Low

In 1985, Nike released the Nike Dunk. The shoe was marketed with the legendary “Be True to Your School” campaign and was designed to match seven of the best NCAA Division I teams in the country. In 2002, Nike officially launched Nike SB and codified the connection between skate culture and the Nike Dunk in doing so. Sandy Bodecker was hired to manage the division and under his leadership, the iconic Nike SB Dunk made its debut.
