What makes the Born x Raised x Nike SB Dunk Low so special?

LA-based streetwear label updates the classic SB model with a crisp white and blue color scheme, utilizing the former hue on the tongues, quarter panels and toe boxes while the latter is positioned on the overlays. The toe boxes are perforated with cross-shaped holes, and the heels feature holographic heel panels and remixed branding. A signature motto for Born x Raised is “One Block at a Time,” and this phrase is highlighted on the tongues and toe tips. The shoe’s laces have been adorned with the words “In Loving Memory,” likely a dedication to a loved one of the brand; additionally, the heels have been styled with a 3D block that spells out “On the Turf.”

Born x Raised

BornxRaised was founded in 2011 by Christopher “Spanto” and his creative partner Alex “2Tone” to honor the Los Angeles era of the 1990s. As Spanto returned from prison, he found a Venice Beach he did not recognize at all; gentrification had altered it drastically. In response to this change–and inspired by his own experiences growing up in this neighborhood–he began designing clothing inspired by his old stomping grounds. With their clothes, Born x Raised hopes to embrace the melting pot of hip-hop, punk, skating, and urban culture present in Venice Beach.
